{"id":2291,"date":"2012-04-27T13:50:55","date_gmt":"2012-04-27T11:50:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dev.ds.unipi.gr\/temsec2\/en\/?p=2291"},"modified":"2024-04-23T22:10:24","modified_gmt":"2024-04-23T20:10:24","slug":"regulating-competition-law-fighting-corruption-and-ict","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/masters.ds.unipi.gr\/MSc_Law_ICT\/en\/regulating-competition-law-fighting-corruption-and-ict\/","title":{"rendered":"Regulating Competition, Law, Fighting Corruption and ICT"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Learning Outcomes<\/h3>\n<p>Within the framework of the course, students will be able to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Grasp critical concepts related to the relationship between national and EU law.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrate a critical understanding of the fundamental concepts of competition law.<\/li>\n<li>Understand contemporary legal issues arising from the widespread use of technology in business competition.<\/li>\n<li>Possess the ability to critically analyze modern regulatory models in the national and EU markets.<\/li>\n<li>Acquire enhanced knowledge of the evolving environment of digital competition, particularly due to prohibited collaborations through algorithms.<\/li>\n<li>Have an increased critical understanding of the evolutionary dynamics of knowledge fields in competition law, privacy protection, artificial intelligence, and state aid law.<\/li>\n<li>Recognize the challenges of addressing corruption and key legal issues in information and communications technologies.<\/li>\n<li>Possess advanced state-of-the-art specialized scientific knowledge in the course subjects, serving as a basis for original thinking and research activities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<h3>Syllabus<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Introduction to EU Internal Market Law &#8211; Relationships between national and EU law and the role of competition law.<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to Competition Law in the EU (general principles, theoretical and economic background).<\/li>\n<li>Interpretation and application of Articles 101 and 102 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) (general framework).<\/li>\n<li>Competition and Tech Giants &#8211; Specifics of the digital economy.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarization with case law precedents and administrative practices of competition authorities (case studies) &#8211; Structured into three (3) specific areas: \u2022 Collaborations and collusion in the digital economy (artificial intelligence, algorithms, blockchain). \u2022 Cases of abuse of dominant position (Microsoft, Google cases). \u2022 Mergers and acquisitions in the digital economy (Facebook\/Instagram, Facebook\/WhatsApp, Google\/DoubleClick, Microsoft\/LinkedIn, Apple\/Shazam).<\/li>\n<li>Turning points in competition law, legislation on data protection, and intellectual property rights.<\/li>\n<li>Introduction to State Aid Law.<\/li>\n<li>Deepening in State Aid Law &#8211; The example of telecommunications.<\/li>\n<li>Deepening in State Aid Law &#8211; The example of patent boxes.<\/li>\n<li>Corruption, economic crime, and information and communication technologies. Basic concepts. Analysis of forms of cybercrime. Cryptocurrencies and Blockchain technology.<\/li>\n<li>Legal handling of economic crimes using information and communication technologies: analysis of the objective and subjective nature and the streams of offenses.<\/li>\n<li>Analysis of difficulties in their confrontation.<\/li>\n<li>Political, social, economic, legal, technological, and ethical approach.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I.
